Impetus

I get that urge to clean and straighten when people are coming to visit. It's a pretty common desire, right? No one wants to be seen as a slob. I even cleaned before my parents came out for graduation and we weren't even staying at our apartment! I apparently didn't do that great a job as my mom said, "This is clean?"

Thanks, mom.

But, my sister Jennie is coming out (tomorrow!!) and it was the perfect nudge for me to get going on some organizing I'd been meaning to do for a while, as well as some furniture rearranging.

I've been reading a lot of Apartment Therapy articles on organization and in practically every other article they recommend for apartment dwellers to take advantage of their vertical space. Genius. So I made what is likely to be the best purchase of 2012 and bought two sets of these suckers.

They were a cinch to put together. I used six in the bedroom closet and the other two in the laundry room. I am so pleased with how they turned out. I don't have any before pictures but, trust me, it's much better.

That desk moved from the spare room into the main living space which allows for more space in the spare room when we have a guest (read: Jennie!). And, I found that old map picture that Dan got from his Grandpa and then threw a couple empties up next to it.

Oh! That vintage fan is a gift my parents got us for our second anniversary. I love it!

Anyway, I'm not the world's most innovative (or consistent) organizer but my closet has never been neater.

  1. I'm so jealous that your place looks that clean! Wanna come over and help me organize my house...ha ha ha...perhaps I need to start by purging half of the stuff in my closet? Can you share how you organized your clothes closet?
