wearin' flowers in my hair

I get to go to California in two days, TWO DAYS, gah! I cannot wait to see my family and friends, most of whom I haven't seen since the wedding almost 6 months ago. On the phone this morning, Kelly asked if I was already making plans with people and how I was planning to see anyone. I thought about it for a minute and realized I hadn't made any concrete plans with anyone -- I mean I could put up an online calendar and have people pencil themselves in but that seems a little narcissistic and well, I just don't know how to make an online calendar. What I realized as I thought about my trip back home was that I had spent more time thinking about where I would eat rather than who I would see (if you're in the market for friends, I am a great one, clearly). I have been salivating over thoughts of In-n-Out, Casa Mexico, Uncle Yu's, and the Ale House. In-n-Out is an obvious choice as a beloved California favorite. Casa Mexico is my FAVORITE mexican restaurant and Uncle Yu's is a classy chinese joint - both mexican food and chinese food are seriously lacking over here in North Carolina. Scratch that, they aren't lacking per se but they aren't very good. Last week we went to a burrito place here in Wilmington that everyone here raves about, Flaming Amy's, we went, we ate, it was fine but I don't think it was made by mexicans or anyone of mexican decent. Since I can make mexican food (I'm a quarter mexican, so I qualify) the lack of decent mexican restaurants isn't as devastating as the lack of decent chinese restaurants. We have tried so many chinese places on this coast and there just isn't anything good, plus Dan always forgets that over here chow mein is called lo mein. I haven't braved a chinese recipe yet but I'm sure I'll hit that point eventually. The point is, I can't wait to see everyone but I just really hope that coincides with a lot of great food. Mmmm, seriously, just writing this entry is making my stomach growl.

Also, points if you can tell me the correlation between the title and the blog ;)
