Day Five:
A Photo Of You

I got into the University of North Carolina Wilmington! I am so excited to start school and finish my first degree. This is a huge goal for me, I fully believe that I will do something important with my life and that education is integral to my future. There is also a part of me that wants to prove myself to people. When I decided to take a semester off in 2008 to join Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and go to India there were some people who were adamantly against it, they just knew that if I left school I would never go back. However, my experience with YWAM and what I learned about the treatment of women and children exploited in sexual slavery just encouraged me to go back to school. I knew that the best way to combat modern day slavery was to continue my education and acquire the tools to maximize my impact on the problem.
Before Dan and I got married we discussed some of the goals we had for life and my education was highest on the list. I got married at a relatively young age and because of that some people don't believe I'll finish school -- that sounds like a challenge to me, and I love a challenge. I also love to prove people wrong.
