balcony bistro part iii
Added a couple things for flare like that table cloth (which I made!) and those pretty lights. Still waiting on a fabulous outdoor rug to come in but for now it's perfect.
p.s. that little blue bottle is a saki bottle that I stole from the sushi place we went to. Dan says its not stealing because we paid for the saki, but I still felt rather guilty walking out hearing it clink inside my purse.

balcony bistro part ii
I've decided to give my green thumb a go. I've never grown anything before but if my mom's gardens are any indication I should be a natural. I'm not holding my breath.
I went with flower seeds because a) they're cheaper and b) if they die see 'a.' However I did cave in and buy two plants for the red pot so that I would have something pretty to look at while I waited to see if my seed sowing was effective.
I'm thinking about getting a tree as well. Maybe some kind of produce tree. They say (those reliable sources I found on the internets) that I could easily grow a small tree in a pot. An olive tree perhaps, or maybe an avocado tree. My sources tell me these are excellent choices to grow in a container.
For now I've stuck with flowers. I'll keep you updated on their progress (if there is any), but so far those white ones have not died and in fact two of the buds blossomed since I brought it home.

(I think their survival is a win-win).

balcony bistro part i
I got it into my head to create a little balcony garden. This came at a fantastic time when procrastinating on all my final papers is exactly what I want to do. I started stalking the furniture page on craigslist searching for cheap additions to our porch. There wasn't a whole lot but I wasn't discouraged; there are always thrift stores!
I finally found some pieces I wanted and bought some spray paint to transform them into something new. Spray painting in the wind can be a real drag but I was determined to get this project moving! Wind be darned!
Spray paint is the best medium, probably ever.
